*HELP GUIDE ON COVID – 19*
The women and girls Unit of the African ChangeMakers Initiative wishes to encourage our fellows and members of the general public not to panic over this pandemic but take precautionary measures. Here are a few things you should know about the virus:
*The Symptoms*: Cold, fever and difficulty in breathing.
*How it spread: *
▪️ Covid -19 is highly contagious but low mortality. The disease is spread via droplets produced when an infected person sneezes or coughs and the droplets lands in the nose, mouths of people who are close to them.
▪️The virus is also spread by touching contaminated surfaces, objects and items and then touching the eyes, noise or mouth.
▪️The virus is also spread through close contact with infected person.
*How to protect yourself and community: *
✔️Wash your hand regularly with plenty of soap and water. (It is more effective than hand based sanitizers and is cheap and easily available as well).
✔️ Keep an alcohol-based sanitizer ready for times when soap and water are not available.
✔️Don’t touch your eyes, mouth or nose.
✔️ Maintain social distancing; stay at least, 1 meter from the next person.
✔️ Avoid large crowds and social gatherings.
✔️Do not sneeze or cough into your hands. Use a tissue and throw it away immediately, or sneeze into your elbow.
✔️Stay hydrated.
✔️wear a face mask if you are sick.
✔️Chloroquine has not been approved by health care officials as an antidote. Note that if abused, the drug may cause damage to the liver.
✔️Lastly, do not panic. And don’t share panic stories and unverified contents on social media.
